I require a crown to be fitted on a pre-molar on the lower right hand side of my tooth. My Dentist only offered a SILVER coloured crown under NHS treatment. He offered 2 options for porcelain-coloured crowns - either £615 or £475 approx (the £475 one has a base metal look at the gumline). Is this correct? Is there really not a porcelain coloured crown available under NHS?

Hello - Last time I went to my dentist, who I have been with for over 20 years (and am now in a minority of NHS patients at this practice) I pointed out that there were holes in two of my silver-coloured crowns. I was told that they were 'just one of those things' and not detrimental to the teeth beneath them even though I am feeling pain on eating/ drinking hot and cold food in these teeth. I feel that my dentist is not reall...

Hi - I've had a crown fitted today over a root canal and paid £400 on the nhs for a white one. From the outside you can slightly see a dark grey/black edge where it fits to my gum but on the inside this is much thicker and I'd say about a fifth of the thickness of the tooth itself. Should I go back and request a better one as I'm concious there can''t be any gum recession etc as I only had it fitted today! It's my second to ba...

I recently had a porcelain crown replaced to one of my front teeth.I had it replaced as i had a root canal done 15 years ago and a metal bonded crown and the black margin line of the metal was showing. However i am very disappointed to find that the crown still shows a black margin line. Could this be due to the root canal and the tooth being dark underneath it? and if so can anything be done.

I have an upper lateral incisor which has become a little bit loose and is not very healthy. Both the upper premolars are sore because the tooth beside each is missing, hence they've become the teeth I chew with. Is it possible to have crowns fitted by the NHS and a bridge between the premolar and first molar on the right. If not, what is the likely cost privately? Best wishes Katrina

I am an NHS patient and was fitted with a front crown less than 6 months ago. Too my utter horror, while at a friends BBQ it came out and got lost, we tried in vain to look for it. As it is a front tooth I am very self conscience. My question is, as it obviously should not have come out so unexpectedly soon and has been lost, could I reasonably expect be able to get another NHS replacement without any difficulties? as I'm conc...
