On Sunday 15/01/2012 I had toothache, this toothache emanated from underneath a gold crown at the top right side of my mouth. This continued throughout the day & night and as a result I attended my NHS Dentist on Monday 16/01/2012. She examined & X-Rayed the tooth & determined that there was a minor infection in the root of the tooth beneath the gold crown. I asked for Antibiotics to remove the infection because it was causin...

Hello, I have had some work done on my upper teeth, which was advised by my dentist. She insisted I needed 4 front teeth removed and two back molars. The work was carried out by her over a four week period. This consisted of an X-ray which took approx 5 mins. Then a week later a mouth mould which took about 6 minutes , then a bite wax mould procedure which took about 6-7 mins. After doing this for the three weeks I was told wh...

Hello. On the NHS website it states that a band 3 charge covers everything in bands 1 and 2 and above - so covers crowns and what not. My dentist told me there is an obligatory 3 month wait after my root canal filling before a crown would be fitted. I am now being charged separately for the crown - band 3 on top of the band 2 already paid. If the crown fitting is then a band 3 charge on top of the band 2 charge already paid th...

I have just paid 680 pounds for 2 teeth crowned (first and second molar i think) and at the top of both the teeth there is a slight black/dark line on the smile side and on the inside (near roof of mouth) there is a black line that is about 1.5mm on both of them. Is this normal?? i assumed that by paying for white crowns they would be all white and look natural. .... the temporary crowns actually went to the gum leaving no bla...

I have had a few dental problems regarding some deep cavities that have only been discovered in the past couple months, they were both invisible to the eye and one of them was a real mystery to my dentist as the outside shell of this particular molar looked very healthy and normal but after an X-ray because of severe pain I was going through she realized the whole inside of the tooth was gone, it had rotted away! She was very ...

Thank you for calling me this morning the information you gave me was very helpful. The additional problem I have is concerning my bridge. It is a four tooth bridge. I have a back tooth and an eye tooth as an anchor. The bridge is loose and I believe is cracked around the eye tooth and this is where it is more loose. I have some slight throbbing like a dull ache at times. The dentist has told me that if it is loose I will have...

I'm an NHS patient. My dentist fitted partial dentures but I had to return 3 times as they felt much too tight. Each time they said "we daren't take too much off and they need to be tight" but I never had a good fit. Since then I've had extractions and teeth added tothe partial and now they do fit - they properly fit into the roof of my mouth. The problem is, the tooth next to the denture (crowned) developed a fracture, the fr...
