I had a second molar re-crowned a few weeks ago. The old crown, (put in by another dentist), didn’t fit properly, & kept falling off. I found a new dentist, & the temp crown fit great. I didn’t have any issues. But, the perm crown just doesn’t feel right. My dentist adjusted the bite, but, I’ve told him that the crown either feels like it’s loose, or as if it’s “floating” when I bite down. He can’t find anything wrong with it. Now, the gum line is becoming irritated directly above the crown. What can I do? I can’t chew on it, & don’t have money for another crown.

It could just be that the gum has become inflamed and more precise cleaning will improve things but if the crown does not feel right it is likely the bite needs adjusting further
If it is wrong by the thickness of a hair you will be able to sense it and repeated biting will cause the tooth to become loose in its bony socket which can give rise to a spongy feeling when you chew

Please keep going back to your dentist until 100% happy

It sounds High in the bite , Insist on it being adjusted until it is right , You should not pay again , just get it fixed properly or ask for your money back , to me it sounds like the post and core has come loose or the filling material under it is loose .

If you don't feel that it feels right you must say so and the dentist will have to adjust it ( already tried) , take it of and check the fit, or make you a new one. If this is private work you should expect this level of service.
