I had a root canal filling when in Dubai. 4 months later it is still giving me minor pain and twinges. I have seen my own NHS dentist now 2 times who has tried reshaping my mouth so the pressure points are not on that tooth and another tooth that is also hurting (possibly referred pain).

I have been told that part of the instrument broke off into the root filling when the filling was done. Could this be causing my continued toothache? I have been told the NHS will not remove and refill the root canal and I will need to see a private specialist. I thought the NHS would do this, is that not the case? I was also told that the chance of a 2nd root canal being successful are v small if the first one isn’t. And the cost would be approx 600 which I cannot afford. My other option on the NHS is to have the tooth remove removed which I really don’t want to do.
