if a filling under the 10 years old metalic crown of 2nd molar is broken..wht are the treatment options.can the old metal crown be reused or it will be cut..is a partial coverage crown a suitable treatment option…urgent plz

If the filling (or core) of the crowned tooth fails it is sometimes possible to recement the crown to the underlying broken tooth if the fracture does not affect the fit of the crown.
however if to do so would mean a large area of exposed cement at the margin then it is just a matter of time before the crown fails again and a new restoration will need to be fabricated
The most important thing is to know WHY the previous one failed and then design the new one to cope better with functional stresses although that will depend on having sufficient tooth structure to be able to secure a new crown
