I have lost the upper part of the back lower left molar but my dentist can save the tooth with a crown which is good news. He has also found hairline cracks on the rear right molar and he has proposed using a crown before this too fractures. I am happy with these proposed treatments. I have been given the option of a stainless steel crown at £350, metal free porcelain at £595 and 60% gold at £750. I would get a 10% discount as a member of the practice plan. As this is a rear molar I have discounted the ceramic solution. I can afford either option for the metal. I am 66 years old and I while I have no idea how long I shall live, i am attracted to doing the job once and not having to re do it. What would be the more sensible choice for me to make?
