If my root  is cracked, should I have a crown or an implant?

If this situation occurs, crowning involves saving a tooth by binding the root together but this has a chance of failing.  Losing in this situation means taking out the tooth.  The next step would be a bridge or implant.


Costing should be an influencing factor.  You need to assess or have assessed the amount of life left in your cracked tooth.  In your evaluation, you should add up the cost of a crown and a root canal treatment and weigh these against the cost of an implant with a crown.
